Photo of Tobacco Caye, Belize, Central America
Tobacco Caye is a five acre coral island on the Southern Belize Barrier Reef in the Caribbean Sea. Tobacco Caye is on the northern tip of the South Water Caye Marine Reserve. Tobacco Caye was first settled by English Puritans who named the island after the first crop they planted here around 1640. The islands of Belize were used as hideouts by pirates and buccaneers.
